I take my kids clothes to a local consignment store, and I get 40% of what they sell the item for. Plus then you never have to mess around with everything that goes along with a garage sale, and generally I get the same or more for an item than I would if I had a garage sale.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-987369991251162916.post-35102041424627880602014-05-18T15:16:22.715-04:002014-05-18T15:16:22.715-04:00Hope testing is going well for you! I want to read The Fault in Our Stars as well. Thinking about using The Graveyard Book with some of my kids next year and am in the mist of reading it, you might want to check it out! I was worried about the storms knocking out our power too -- but we were lucky not to lose power or internet. Three years ago, we came to school with NO POWER on the day of our science test. We had to stay the whole day too. I love your blog! If you haven't read Wonder by RJ Palacio to your list you definitely should. And I got some good reading done during testing too. We are all done with testing and get out on Friday! It is hard to believe that we only had to fill a few days with something to do instead of 2 weeks. Love this schedule!

Good luck with testing!

Andrea
Reading Toward the StarsAndrea Crawfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10863194664150925886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-987369991251162916.post-69435786745106823202014-05-17T15:03:33.155-04:002014-05-17T15:03:33.155-04:00Wow! Doesn't it seem weird and counterproductive for kids to spend that long taking tests, the teacher not teaching (although I am jealous you get to get some reading in) and no new learning taking place? I teach 2nd grade and we used to have about 6 hours of testing over 2 weeks (the fill in the bubble tests) but they decided to try the FAST which is online, and it is about 60 minutes. But.... I think the FAST is really weak and does not give us any useful information. I want the fill in the bubble tests back, believe it or not. There's a balance between valuable testing and how much time we spend on it. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
Bex
Reading and Writing RedheadBex Mawnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02461511441033003836noreply@blogger.com
